Summary:
This is a book about racism and integration.  The Triple Nickles were the first black paratroopers.  They did not get to fight on the front lines of World War II. This is the story of how they came to be, were trained, and were integrated. This is a beautifully written book with lots of captioned, primary source photos, and a couple of first person drawings.  There are extensive appendixes, including the story of researching the book, names of the first 555th Parachute Infantry Battalion, a timeline of integration, source notes, bibliography, and index.
