Summary:
Gregor Mendel was a boy who longed for knowledge.  He went to school, but at a price.  He often couldn't afford the education and worked his way through school.  As a young man he joined an Abby, that way he could pursue his scholastic goals without worrying where his next meal would come from.  Friar Mendel was curious about how traits, like blue eyes or blonde hair are past from parents to children.  He choose to work with green and yellow, wrinkly and smooth pea plants.  He planted many generations of peas and finally figured out about dominant and recessive traits.  He published a paper on it but was forgotten in his own lifetime.  Many years later other scientists stumbled upon his paper and successfully put his experiments to the test.  Today Gregor Mendel is known as the father of genetics. This book is illustrated in full color.
