Summary:
Published in 1999 this book takes a look at what life was like 100 years ago in New York City.  It examines life for all classes of people from the very poor to the very rich and the middle class between.  It is organized with very short, often one page sections answering a specific question like "What were bathing suits like?" or "What were the streets like?" It provides information on a wide range of topics.  This would be a great general introduction to life in the 1890s.  Illustrated by Anna DiVito.
