Summary:
Nakht is a nine year old boy who is studying to be a scribe, like his father. His family move from a small town to a big city. Nakht had many great adventures with his sister Tamyt and his friends. Foiling the plot of grave robbers, falling from a tree, meeting a priest, and even the king (who is a woman – Hapshetsut) are just some of the antics that Nakht falls into. This is a very detailed account touching on all aspects of ancient Egyptian life. The story is written in segments as a journal. At the end of the book is a really well written readers guide with additional information on all the topics touched on in the story. There is an index and bibliography. The book is illustrated with full color
