Summary:
They were the best of friends and the worst of enemies. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were both brilliant men, patriots and presidents.  They were also friends who had a horrible falling out, but in time made up and in the end wrote hundreds of letters to each other.  They were very different men who had a remarkable friendship. They helped found the United States.  John Adams served as its second president.  Thomas Jefferson as its third.  Based on their ideas two political parties were formed.  There different ideas about what the country should be was the basis for their enmity. They did not speak for a number of years.  Then they began writing letters.  They both died on the same day, July 4, 1826, the fiftieth anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.  This book, written in simple language explains the story clearly.  It is illustrated by Larry Day in full color.
