Summary:
Florence Mills was called Harlem's Little Blackbird.  She sang and danced from a very young age. She was one of the best according to her peers.  This book follows her life from the child of former slaves in a small house outside of Washington DC through her many accomplishments on stage both in America and in England.  Florence was not just a star on stage but she had the heart of a star sharing her time and talents with those in need.  She helped in the fight for civil rights. When she died over 150,000 people paid her tribute.  This book is interestingly illustrated by Christian Robinson.
