Resource: Picture book, non-fiction
Time: 1920s
Place: America

Summary:
People have been chewing gum of one sort or another for centuries.  In the 1920s the Fleer Corporation wanted to research a fun new way to experience gum with bubbles.  The researchers set up their laboratory next to accountant Walter Diemer's office.  One day he was told to watch the concoction.  Before he knew it Walter was doing more than just watching, he was adding.  The researchers gave up, but not Walter. Eventually he formulated Dubble Bubble.  It debuted the day after Christmas 1928.  This is such a fun book with an historic author's note, bubble gum facts, and quote endnotes.
