Resource: Feature Film
Running Time: 2 hours
Rating: not rated

Time: 1954
Place: America

Summary:
Ten years after a beloved general retires, in the midst of World War II, two of his former soldiers, turned entertainers, find him in a Vermont Inn suffering from a lack of snow.  The boys rally the troops, while falling for a pair of sisters, to cheer the general up by giving him a heart felt Christmas presentation.  There is lots of singing and dancing.  This film, while a holiday favorite is more than a sappy, sentimental Christmas movie.  It was screened in 1954 so the customs and language are in and of itself interesting, for instance, what is a snood?  It could also be a light place to start some deep research.  There is a musical number that plays tribute to the mistrel show.  There is an African American porter on the train.  Also the questions of the roles of women and returning GI's, while not specifically voiced are heard in this movie.  Starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen.

Potentially Objectionable Content:
There is quite a bit of smoking.
