House of Worth a podcast reviewed by the History Magpie

Resource: podcast
Running Time: 38 minutes

Time: 1825 - 1895
Place: France

Summary:
Born a Brit, Charles Worth moved to Paris in his twenties after an unconventional education in the fabric industry in London, England.  With relationships within the French Court, some fabulous timing, creativity, ingenuity and a little ego he became the first modern fashion designer.  Not only did he create beautiful, exclusive gowns for the elite, he became a brand unto himself.  He created the label, and the collection.  He embraced new technology like the sewing machine.  He also defined what Haute Couture is and founded the body who still oversee the list of designers who fit that category.  Tracy and Holly, as usual, have a great time unspooling this designer's tale.
