Summary:
Wilson Bentley was a simple farmer from Jericho, Vermont.  He loved the beauty of nature, especially snowflakes.  Bentley spent his whole life first discovering ways to capture the beauty of the snowflake to share with other people.  He figured out how to use a camera to capture single snowflakes.  He spent all his life and money in this pursuit, studying nature to share with others.  He died shortly after the publication of a book with many snowflake pictures.  Today there are several monuments, museums and collections dedicated to his life and work.   This book is a Caldecott Award winning book, Some of his actual snowflake pictures and a photo of the scientist is on the last page of the book.  It is illustrated in full color by Mary Azarian.
