Summary:
In San Francisco's Chinatown there lived a girl named Nim. She was in a contest to see which student could collect the most paper for the war effort.  She and a vile little boy were neck and neck.  She used a bit of creativity to win the contest, showing a great deal of character in the endeavor.  There is a lot of wonderful description about Chinese American life during this time period.  Illustrated in full color by Yangsook Choi
